Srinagar: One civilian is missing after Indian army soldiers allegedly arrested three persons on Thursday late evening in Kupwara district along the Line of Control (LoC).

Locals of Trimokh village in Lolab area of the district said that three persons were detained by soldiers of Army’s 27 RR around 8 PM yesterday.

They were identified as Nasrullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Khan and Jalal Din Khan. “Jalal Din Khan was released yesterday only after he was thrashed but Nasrullah and Manzoor were taken by army to their camp,” the locals said.

The locals Friday morning approached J&K police and some cops accompanied them to the army camp.

“Nasrullah Khan was released; his condition was bad after he was tortured all night and he was rushed to Srinagar hospital for emergency treatment,” the locals said.

However, they added, “army out rightly denied that they have arrested Manzoor Khan.” “It all happened before our eyes yesterday when the army men arrested them.”

The locals said that Manzoor is “missing”.

SSP Kupwara, Shamsher Singh, told Kashmir Reader, “We are investigating (the incident)… will inform you in the evening.”

Efforts to reach Srinagar based defence spokesperson did not materialize. (KR)
