Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman paid rich tributes to JEM militant Noor Muhammad Tantray killed in an encounter with forces at Samboora in Pulwama district stating that the Kashmiri youth are spilling their blood for the freedom and self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the spokesman said that “the mission of martyrs will be realized and it’s the collective responsibility of leadership and people to protect and safeguard the great mission of martyrs.”

The APHC spokesman while commenting on the ongoing border skirmishes between the armies of India and Pakistan resulting in a war-like situation in the region, said the exchange of heavy firing between the two armies is taking a serious toll on the people living on both sides of Line of Control as they are losing their property and their lives and live under a perpetual threat to their life and property. He said in the past many innocent lives on both sides of the border have been consumed by the border shelling.

The spokesman said that the continuous exchange of firing by both armies is casting a shadow of war in the region which can engulf the entire South Asian region and lead to huge destruction. He said the leadership of India and Pakistan must accept the ground realities and play their part in stopping a big catastrophe which can lead to mass destruction. The spokesman urged the leadership and all the political parties of both nuclear powers to help resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute which is the main reason for tension and exchange of firing at the LoC.

The spokesman said that APHC has always stated that pending Kashmir issue and the continuous human rights violation of the people of Kashmir were the basic reasons for the military confrontation on LoC between both the nuclear powers. He said without the resolution of Kashmir issue, peace was not possible in the region.

The APHC spokesman said that need of the hour was that the leadership of India and Pakistan show seriousness in resolving the Kashmir conflict to prevent further deterioration of the situation in Kashmir and to begin with, a meaningful and a sustained dialogue was a must.

The spokesman stressed on the Government of India to shun its rigid and stubborn approach and take concrete steps to take all the parties, Pakistan, and the people of Kashmir on board for a meaningful dialogue so that Kashmir issue is resolved as per the aspirations of people of Kashmir.
