Ganderbal Aug 21【KNZ】:The annual Urs Mubarak of Sufi Saint Hazrat Syed Baba Shukr-u Din (RA) was observed with religious fervour and enthusiasm in Kujar here on monday.

Thousands of devotees from different parts of the state thronged to Kujjar village to participate in popular Urs in Ganderbal.

Devotees said Baba Shukr-u Din was one of the most revered saint in Kashmir and was one among 700 Sadats who then accompanied Hazrat Mir syed Ali Hamdani (RA).

Devotees said he travelled far and wide in the valley, relieving people of evils and myths. He became instrumental in guiding thousands to the stages of spiritual domain and had huge number of followers.

“We are blessed to have have his shrine in the village .In his memory we have also built a School .Which has imparted education to thousands of students .”
They added.

One of the devotee Of Kujjar village Advocate lone Altaf said “The Urs in Kujjar village symbolises our tradition, social values and brotherhood .Every year we gather here and pray for well being of Kashmir .”

On the occasion Jinab Abid Razvi a well known muslim scholar in Ganderbal highlighted the life and contributions of Syed Baba Shukr-u-Din (RA) towards Islam .He emphasized upon people to work for the welfare of humanity and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The devotees  offered special prayers at the shrine which resounded with recitations of verses of Holy Quran.KNZ
