Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Anantnag have arrested 02 drug peddlers and seized psychotropic substance from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Arwani Bridge Bijbehara arrested two drug peddlers identified as Firdous Ahmad Thokar and Zubair Ahmad Ganaie both residents of Hassanpora Tawela. Durng checking officers were able to recover psychotropic substances from their possession.
They have been shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where they remain in custody. Case FIR No 26/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
