The Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced the dates for the highly-anticipated Amarnath Yatra for 2020.

It has been decided that the schedule from 2020 pilgrimage will start from June 23 and continue till August 3. The said schedule was finalised at the 37th board meeting of the Sri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), presided over by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu. As the Amarnath Yarth will begin from June 23, the registration for the same will start from April 1, ,2020.

The five-day trek starts at Pahalgam and continues till the Amarnath cave that sits at a high altitude of 12756 ft. The 42-day-long yatra in the south Kashmir will be a bit longer this year, as compared to the 40-day-long trek in 2019.

The guidelines to take part in this yatra states that a person below 13 years of age and 75 years of age will not be permitted to undergo this arduous pilgrimage.

A board spokesperson said that instructions have also been laid out to ensure that the routes for the yatra and the pilgrim camps are kept plastic-free.
