Minister also inaugurates College of Nursing

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated the first Architecture School in Kashmir at Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Bemina.

The Minister inaugurated the institute in presence of MLA Batamalloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Principal Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and Principal Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Dr Yasmin Kawoosa.

The Minister also announced an auditorium for the Degree College and macadamization of roads in college.

On the occasion, the Minister interacted with the first batch of 40 students who secured admission in the architecture course. He asked students to avail all the opportunities available in the institution and make name for themselves in the field of architecture.

Bukhari said that it was the dream of former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to establish architectural institution in Kashmir. “Mufti sahib was keen to revive local architecture in private and government sector. He believed that establishment of Architecture Schools in valley would lead to the revival of heritage architecture,” Bukhari said.

Praising the capabilities of the students, the Minister said that students of J&K are next to none and they have proved their intellectual acumen at various levels on different platforms.

Earlier, the Minister inaugurated College of Nursing at Government College of Women, M.A Road, here which was established at an estimated cost of Rs 3.39 crore with the total build up area of 996 Sq mts.

He inaugurated the College in presence of Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi, Principal Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and Principal Government College for Women, Prof Shaheen Altaf.

The Minister said that Nursing is usually pursued by the students from South and North Kashmir and we want that students of Srinagar too opt for nursing courses.

He said that Nursing is a noble profession and it has global demand. The students have a great future in this profession and there are lot of jobs in this profession, he added.

It was informed that the first batch of 60 meritorious students have already secured admission in the college.

The Minister also announced the macadamization of roads in college and also released college magazine “The Pamposh”.
