Srinagar: The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Tuesday terminated the services of a Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher (ReT) who was engaged 15 years ago, for getting appointed on the basis of “fake” Class 12 marks certificate.

Hajra Bano of Saderbagh, Ganderbal, was engaged as ReT in Ganderbal zone in March 2003.

An order issued by DSEK, GN Itoo, terminated services of the teacher but did not spell out any punishment to the appointing authorities.

Bano, as per the order, was regularised as Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher (RRT) in 2008 and was deputed to DIET Ganderbal for undergoing D.E.Ed. training course in 2015.

While the JKBOSE confirmed the genuineness of Bano’s matriculation qualification certificate, the board, as per the DSEK’s order, “informed that 12th class certificate, which was produced by the said RRT, does not exist in their records, and as such declared the certificate as absolutely fake and fabricated”. The DIET Ganderbal had sought a verification from the board in 2016.

After the JKBOSE questioned Bano’s class 12 qualification certificate, ZEO Ganderbal issued a show-cause notice to her in October last year to explain her position.

“…but she failed to reply within the stipulated time frame. However, she was given an additional period of three days for submitting her reply, which was received on 3/11/2017, wherein she denied the allegations and requested for re-verification of the qualification certificate,” the DSEK said in its order.
After ZEO Ganderbal sought a re-verification of Bano’s class 12 qualification certificate from the JKBOSE, the board as per the DSEK “reiterated the earlier position”.

The board told the ZEO Ganderbal that Bano’s class 12 certificate “showing to have been issued by JKBOSE, has not been actually issued by JKBOSE, hence be treated as absolutely fake and fabricated”, the DSEK said.

The DSEK said that the teacher was placed under suspension and attached with ZEO Ganderbal’s office in December last year.
