Srinagar, March 9: Protests are going on amid a shutdown in Keller area of Shopian district against the frequent “thrashing of locals by Army.”

Locals alleged that everyday they are thrashed by troopers of Mastpora camp . “Till now 5 to 8 youths have ben beaten,” locals said.

They said that one Myser Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Qadir Khanday resident of Keller was beaten many times.

Another local said that “they (Army) are snatching our I Cards and Mobile phones and asking us to visit their camp.”

Some days ago they snatched the mobile phones of three brothers and asked them to visit army camp to collect the phones and their I cards. “However, when they visited the camp, they were beaten up.”

Last night another youth Umer Dar of Chowan Keller was hospitalized after he was beaten up by troopers. (GNS)
